Question about Multi-resolution Mesh

Is there anyone who can analysis the difference between multi-resolution and multi-level?
I would like know whether the following case can be named as multi-resolution:
1. I put the original mesh into my editing system;
2. I do subdivision once;
3. The finer mesh was showed in the screen;
4. After a few times, the mesh becomes a lot finer;
Whether I can call this process as multi-resolution mesh editing. Or just say edit mesh in different levels? Is there any difference!
